What does “Art De Eletoka” mean?

By: Shad Chancey

Growing up in Richardson Texas I was a child that loved to draw. I grew up with Justin Granade and
we spent most of the summers together. On one hot summer day in 1987 I was content with staying indoors and sketching while Justin wanted to go out in the heat and ride skateboards. I convinced him into staying indoors on this particular day and just... draw a picture. Justin wasn’t into drawing but he humored me and sat down and drew something in my art pad. Just last December I found all of my
old art pads in a trunk my parents had stored in their garage. I flipped through the book and stumbled upon the drawing he did back on that smoldering summer day. He had drawn the picture below and wrote next to it: “Elatoca.” He said it was a witch. It flooded my mind with old childhood memories and
I immediately called him and suggested we do an artshow together based on this drawing! We changed up the spelling a bit and decided to call this show “Art De Eletoka.” We really loved the idea of creating an artshow for the love of ART… not for the money. That is why all pieces must be sold for $300.00 or less! Affordable and Original art for the people!
